One of the aims of the VSCC is to promote amateur competition for its members using cars constructed either before , or in some certain cases before , or, with permission of the Committee, using a conglomeration of components from specified cars built before Excluding tours, social events and entrants into the ‘champagne class’ on rallies, a VSCC member wishing to compete on a Club event will required to do so in an eligible car; additionally cars running in the Invited class at VSCC events do not normally need a VSCC Eligibility Document, although some other recognised form of identification may be required. With the impending closure of all local DVLA offices it would appear that all registrations are now done through Swansea, so expect a week to 10 days for the turn around. Some other good news is that I am One of the few people that is allowed to issue age certificates to date a vehicle for an age related plate, with all the new people at the DVLA they are following the registration process to the letter and you have to apply to the original manufacturer for dating evidence or myself!
I have been authorised by the DVLA to date bikes for over 20 years, this has just been re-confirmed for current applications. Once the number has been issued you then follow the normal procedure using dating evidence or the original title to get an age related plate. The standard font, unofficially known as Charles Wright , is a subtly redrawn version of Charles Wright’s original font. The letter O and the digit 0 are intentionally identical, as are the letter I and digit 1.
But the typeface accentuates the differences between characters such as 8 and B, or D and 0, with slab serifs to improve the legibility of a plate from a distance. This is especially useful for the automatic number plate recognition software of speed cameras and CCTV.
