In a post on Halo Waypoint , franchise development director Frank O’Connor discussed the development history of The Master Chief Collection MCC , highlighting areas where the developer made mistakes and detailing their plans to make it right. The MCC has had matchmaking issues since it launched in November of , and acknowledges those issues were due in large part to the way the collection was developed. Recent updates, along with the release of the Xbox One X, have provided the team with an opportunity to resolve long-standing issues.

Jacoby04 Recruit – Onyx I’m making this thread because it seems there are some people who have the incorrect notion that MCC is already entirely fixed. The sad reality is, this is not true. Matchmaking times, matchmaking stability, party stability, and game stability are nowhere near where they should be for a game that has been released to the public. I am not making this thread to rant about , or just gripe in general. I want to make a constructive thread that can highlight some of the bigger issues still plaguing this game.
However, sometimes, this isn’t the case. Software may be rushed for any number of reasons, which may include: A holiday release, desire to compete with another company’s product, a studio’s closing, or outright this happens, testing can be shortened or outright skipped.
Gameplay[ edit ] In the Halo 2 anniversary campaign mode, players can switch between the original game’s graphics top and new graphics bottom with the press of a button. The Master Chief Collection consists of Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary , the anniversary edition of Halo 2 , Halo 3 , and Halo 4 , complete with their full catalog of extras, including all multiplayer maps and gameplay modes.
All four campaign modes can be played alone or cooperatively via split screen or Xbox Live. Each campaign has four difficulty levels and access to gameplay modifiers known as “Skulls”. As in Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2 players can swap between the original and upgraded graphics on the fly. Additions to Halo 2’s campaign mode include “Terminals”, and new prologue and epilogue cutscenes to link the series for Halo 5’s debut.

The Master Chief Collection’s matchmaking is an object of shame, embarrassment and ridicule , both for Industries and us reviewers. The fortnight since launch saw Halo’s new guardians apologies, grovel and make all the right noises, but fixes were slow and stumbling, especially following a massively-hyped patch last week that addressed practically everything EXCEPT the state of matchmaking. However, in the wee small hours of last night UK time , quietly slipped out another Halo: With few hopes and low expectations, I summarily download the file and tried it out.

MCC gets yet another matchmaking patch Equipment types main marine manufacturers. Too much of an undertaking to have four different types of multiplayer. Continued crash quashing, server-side improvements, etc. I’ve never been so nervous about a videogame than I am the outcome of this coming patch.

When Nintendo ran three Splatoon Global Testfire sessions over the course of a single weekend they went impressively well; aside from occasional disconnections the performance was reliable and gave a good impression. Unfortunately the ‘final round’ somewhat betrayed those positives with sustained connection problems that shut down most of the session.
During our live blog play went down after less than 10 minutes, though Nintendo’s official network status timed the error at 13 minutes in; the following message was posted to acknowledge the issues.
